Galaxy Note 4 Android Marshmallow update

Android Marshmallow began rolling out to the Galaxy Note 4 in March. Sprint has rolled the update out to its customers, as has T-Mobile. The update also saw a wide roll out occur across India.

The latest carrier to issue the update is Rogers, up north in Canada.

Those of you on AT&T, Verizon will sadly have to remain patient, as Marshmallow has not seen any sign of arriving on the Note 4 yet.

Sprint Galaxy Note 4 Lollipop update

The Android 5.1.1 Sprint Galaxy Note 4 update (N910PVPU4COG5) went out over-the-air (OTA) on August 3. The update to 5.1.1 addresses many of the Android Lollipop problems that initially plagued devices and delivers the Stagefright fix to the Sprint Note 4. It also brings the usual performance and stability improvements, along with ‘new/enhanced features’ – if you see any of the latter be sure to let us know in the comments.

Sprint’s Lollipop upgrade package is a big file, so make sure you’re connected to Wi-Fi and your phone is charged to at least 50 percent before downloading it. To check for the update, go to Settings > About Phone > Software Update.

AT&T Galaxy Note 4 Lollipop update

After Sprint rolled out the Stagefright patch on August 3, AT&T followed suit on August 5, with build number N910AUCU2COC6. This was followed by another update in October that brought the device up to Android 5.1.1.

Although the official AT&T support page has yet to be updated, many users have reported receiving the update to 5.1.1. To check if your device can receive it yet, go to Settings > About Phone > Software Update page, and remember to connect to Wi-Fi and charge your battery to at least 50 percent before beginning the download.

How to install the latest update manually

First things first: flashing firmware to your device comes with risks, especially if you’re using a carrier-branded device. Proceed with caution.

If you are impatient for a new version or wish to downgrade to an older version of Lollipop, you might be interested in learning how to manually install a certain Android version on your Galaxy Note 4.

To do this, you will need to download the factory image of the Android version you want. Many of these can be found over at the XDA Developers forum or at SamMobile.com. Make sure to get the correct image for your device by checking your device model number.
